Tutorial #16: Importing and Exporting your Profile

This tutorial shows you how to import and export your profile. This is important for backing up your profile before upgrading from an earlier version of Dragon Medical or if you are transferring computers.

Importing and Exporting Your Profile

If you will be using Dragon on more than one computer that is not on a shared network or server and want to transfer your profile between them you will need to export and then import it to the new computer. The same also applies if you choose to upgrade to a newer version of Dragon Medical at some point in the future.

To export your user profile to take to another computer or prior to upgrading:

  1. Launch Dragon Medical Practice Edition 4, if it isn't already open, by double clicking the desktop icon, clicking the icon on the taskbar if present, or by simply opening the start menu in windows and typing in "Dragon Medical Practice Edition," and then pressing enter

  2. Once Dragon opens, either select a profile to load or, if you have only one profile, wait for Dragon to load your profile

  3. Click on "Profile" on the Dragon Bar

  4. Navigate to "Manage User Profiles" and click it

  5. Select the profile you wish to export

  6. Click on “Advanced” followed by “Export…”

  7. Choose the location you would like to export it to

  8. Dragon will take a few seconds to export your profile

To import your user profile into the new computer or completed the upgrade: 

  1. Launch Dragon Medical Practice Edition 2, if it isn't already open, by double clicking the desktop icon, clicking the icon on the taskbar if present, or by simply opening the start menu in windows and typing in "Dragon Medical Practice Edition," and then pressing enter

  2. Once Dragon opens, either select a profile to load or, if you have only one profile, wait for Dragon to load your profile

  3. Click on "Profile" on the Dragon Bar

  4. Navigate to "Manage User Profiles" and click on it

  5. Click on “Advanced” followed by “Import…”

  6. Navigate to the location where your profile was exported (most likely onto a USB drive)

  7. Dragon will now Import your profile
