Tutorial #16: Adding a Second Vocabulary

This tutorial shows you how to add a second vocabulary to your Dragon Medical profile, something you will likely want to do if you work within multiple different specialties or have multiple uses for Dragon.

Adding an Additional Vocabulary

Dragon is designed to always give preference to medical terms, given that it is primarily used in a medical setting. That said, sometimes users may want to use it for personal use, such as grocery or to-do lists. To do so, you will want to add an additional non-medical vocabulary to your profile. This is also applicable for users who use multiple medical vocabularies, such as Family Medicine and Radiology. To add an additional vocabulary to your Dragon profile:

  1. Launch Dragon Medical Practice Edition 2, if it isn't already open, by double clicking the desktop icon, clicking the icon on the taskbar if present, or by simply opening the start menu in windows and typing in "Dragon Medical Practice Edition," and then pressing enter

  2. Once Dragon opens, either select a profile to load or, if you have only one profile, wait for Dragon to load your profile

  3. Once dragon has fully loaded, click on "Vocabulary" on the Dragon Bar

  4. Click on "Manage Vocabularies" and followed by “New”

  5. Choose a name for your new vocabulary by typing it in

  6. Select your desired vocabulary from the drop-down menu list (for personal use you will want to select “General – Large”)

  7. Click “OK”

  8. Refer to the next guide to see how to switch between Vocabularies
